Ascension: Storm of Souls Delayed
We are sad to announce that due to an uncontrollable shipping delay, Storm of Souls will not make it to stores before the holiday season. As it stands, we currently expect the game to be on store shelves around the beginning of the new year. We will announce a more definitive date when we know more.
Customers that preordered the game through our online store will still have their ordered fulfilled starting on December 16. We are also going to extend the amount of time stores have to place orders for Storm of Souls through their distributor and get copies of Soul Collector to include with their sales.
We realize that everyone was looking forward to this release for the holidays, and apologize for the inconvenience this places on everyone. We will be posting updates on the status of Storm of Souls on our Facebook page, to help make the remaining wait as painless as possible. In spite of this bad news, we hope you all have a safe and happy holiday season, and look forward to hearing all of the epic Storm of Souls stories in the new year.

I noticed that the quantity of SoS preorder is 0 now. Will you extend the deadline of preorder? If SoS is put on store like in January, will the order from this website include the promo Soul Collector?

messes up a game order i had with xmas presents included in it, this news is arriving a bit late to do much about it i fear. UGH!
I think it is wrong, wrong, wrong for you to be selling and distributing on your website while brick and mortar stores get to deal with the angry customers. If you TRULY stood behind your product, you would not fulfill any orders until you fulfill your commitment to the retailers that carry your products on the good faith that they will sell. I challenge you to step up and not screw over FLG stores.
The saddest part about this for me, though of course I'm sad about the expansion, is that it's not limited there. There's also a hold on any Ascension product, including sleeves, which I was really hoping to purchase for my game. Unfortunately, my local store is now unable to acquire them, and my cards get more damaged each play. I am a sad panda.
I'm sorry for the delay, but I'm still looking forward to the expansion. I'm also hoping they'll restock the sleeves and the promo cards.
@jacob parker: the Ascension sleeves have been out to distributors for several weeks (and as far as I know we never quite ran out). Your FLGS can order from any one of the half dozen distributors who carry my stuff. Everyone who carries my line has some, as far as I know. the combo boxes with the new art and promo card are NOT out yet, due to a wait for the cards from Gary Games, I am packing those units up now and they will be shipping to distributors this week, will still miss Christmas unfortunately. but regular packs of sleeves are available now!
DISAPPOINTMENT YET AGAIN!!! WTF Gary? Put down the magic cards and take care of your shit. I didn't pre-order through your site this time cuz last time i did i did'nt get my game until ten days after the release date, and my buddy bought his the day of from a game store and still recieved the promo. so this time i preordered it from my game store and now shit is delayed AGAIN. Didn't you make storm of souls available in october for some event. WTF! I love your game but you guys are really shitty at running a business. You also fucked up the last gameday event. Get your fucking life together Gary!!!
@russ666 are you for real that it took 10 days to get to you? Does that mean that I may be at school when this arrives at my house (when I expected to have already been playing it with my friends along with all the promos I ordered three days ago in November)? This might be the worst considering I live 4 hours away from home. I feel like a 10 day wait is ridiculous and borderline inexcusable for a product I shelled $70 for in November...

Whoa, whoa! Easy kids! It is only a game after all, let's keep some perspective. I'm sure we can survive the holidays and maybe even still have fun without the Storm of Souls expansion. Merry Christmas to all!
This is an absolutely horrid decision by Gary Games to fill orders placed with them and leave the FLGS out in the cold. If I owned an FLGS, I would refuse to carry the game when it came out or hold any events until I got an apology and/or a cash payment to recoup potential losses.
if you like ascension you should check out "Dominion" by Rio Grand Games. it is similar deck building game that comes out with expansions a couple of times a year...ON TIME.
To my understanding there was an issue with customs guys. It was for the most part out of the hands of Gary Games. My store got our copies yesterday. Hope everyone gets their's soon.
That doesn't make a lot of sense since Gary Games is in the U.S. and its copies of the games it was sending out to people would also have needed to pass customs. My FLGS got its copies yesterday as well.
But my local FLGS didn't get any promos.
mine got shipped out on Friday from Coolstuffinc.com, but apparently won't get to my house until the 4th! :(
Mine finally shipped (from CSI), but I have to say this is probably the end of my purchases with Ascension. This significant delay is just the straw -- the game (to me) didn't have that much room to expand, and two expansions is more than enough. (As one forum put it, stacking them together will leave you an outrageously big deck and dilute all the various mechanics to oblivion.) The worst part for me, though, is the promos. Not only are they overpriced (and not in bundles!), but I *loathe* what they've done with "tournament participants/winners Only can get this card" promo cards like they've done at GenCon. No such thing should ever exist.
